Text 25 Feb 2 notes White Logic needs to be challenged sometimes.

Internalized racism has become so accepted that contradictory statements are somehow both accepted as possible. In light of last night’s Oscars I have to say this. In the last few months I have seen both of these things.

It doesn’t matter that Katniss from the Hunger Games was played by a white actress even though her character is written as a person of color because she was the best actress for a job.

Quvenzhané Wallis shouldn’t play Annie because the character is known to have red hair.

Do you see the issue here? Do you see the hypocrisy? The same sphere of people accept both of these statements as true. If you don’t need me to point this out to see that this is blatantly racist, then good for you. If you don’t think that there is something deeply wrong with this then you need to reevaluate why you think that a white actress is always best for the part.
